Choirmaster Gareth Malone, the man behind the successful Military Wives Choir is back with a new show: Sing While You Work. He travels around the country trying to form four workplace choirs, who will then compete against each other.
In episode 1, Gareth visits Lewisham Healthcare NHS trust to form his first choir of doctors, nurses and porters. Many of the singers will have very little experience, so we may well see some terrible X-Factor style auditions!
After the series ends, you can bet the winning choir will release a single like the Military wives, who were formed on the first series of The Choir, but will they be as successful?

The Choir: Sing While You Work is on BBC2, Thursday at 9:00pm

I have just watched the Lewisham NHS Trust choir and what an inspiration the programme is. Gareth Malone not only teaches people to sing but facilitates their growing sense of pride and worth in themselves and each other. Although ultimately the choir will compete against others it can only do so by co-operation with and support for the individual members. The whole process restores my faith in the goodness of people. Don’t be too hard on Eddie. Maybe not giving in to his feelings is the only way he can do his job.
